Description

Entsorga’s semi-dry Cow® portable is a small-scale anaerobic digester for recovering biogas from small quantities of sludge or from the organic fraction of municipal solid waste. The system uses the innovative semi-dry anaerobic digestion method, green technology sold in Italy by Entsorga and abroad on an industrial scale. The Cow portable has a treatment capacity of 1000-2000 t/y. Inside, the organic waste ferments in the absence of oxygen, while a horizontal agitation system (“plug-flow”) facilitates the activity of the microorganisms and a heating system guarantees the optimal temperature. All the main parameters are managed automatically, by a control system. Two products are obtained from fermentation: biogas, mainly made of Methane and CO2, and a residual digestate, suitable for producing a high-quality fertilizer for agriculture.

Result to be enhanced

This technology allows small quantities of sludge or the organic fraction of waste to be efficiently transformed into biogas and natural fertilizer, guaranteeing a recovery percentage of over 95% (the quantity of waste to be disposed of in landfill is less than 5%) and avoiding thus the emissions of climate-changing gases such as CO2 and methane into the atmosphere.

Why is it important?

This technology allows us to recover renewable materials and fuels from waste, with a view to a circular economy, avoiding the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Easy to transport and install, it does not release odors or dust into the environment because the anaerobic process takes place inside a closed digester. The process is optimized thanks to a highly automated Industry 4.0 control system and does not require continuous supervision or dedicated manpower.
