DEPURARE 2.0
Innovative system for the final purification and disinfection of wastewater
Description
The project aims to test an innovative system for the final purification and disinfection of wastewater, before its release into water bodies. The prototype treats urban wastewater and uses various innovative technologies with very low environmental impact:
- Microalgae
- Zeolites and nanosponges
- ElectroChemically Activated (ECA) Solutions
- Improvement of sludge quality with volume reduction processes and elimination of emerging pollutants.
Result to be enhanced
The DEPURARE 2.0 project successfully achieved the goal of verifying the effectiveness of the systems described above combined with each other, applying them on an experimental and pre-industrial scale at AMAG Reti Idriche plants, with the support of its staff and laboratories. The experimentation carried out in the project, in which the succession of purification processes occurs continuously and automatically, could become, in the near future, a system capable of solving the purification problems of a community with the prospect of water reuse.
Why is it important?
The new tested purification technologies could become competitive on the market in order to industrialize the prototype, with a consequent lowering of supply costs, making the total costs of the life cycle of the new innovative purifier in line with traditional ones. Furthermore, also the advantages from an environmental point of view must be taken into consideration, because they represent a fundamental added value of the DEPURARE 2.0 methodology.
