STU.OPTI.PMI
Business Intelligence and Big Data
Description
The STU.OPTI.PMI project is the starting point of the OPTI.PMI project (PRISM-E call for tenders), in which it contributed to the development of an algorithm capable of optimising production planning integrated into the management system developed by Sandeza. The feasibility study (STU.OPTI.PMI) made it possible to identify the correct level of abstraction, to predict which variables are relevant in the planning process, to understand their availability for the individual company, and thus to design a ‘holistic’ and standardised planning algorithm that is capable of incorporating the defined variables, thus adapting to different contexts or to the evolution of the context of an individual company. This approach is therefore the opposite of an approach in which planning optimisation is based on a given process known a priori. The infrastructure was realised through innovativeness profiles linked both to the depth and granularity.
Result to be enhanced
The starting point of the project was the analysis of the literature made by Junior and Senior Developers of Sandeza, supported by the teachers of DIGEP. Thanks to the project, the topics of combinatorial optimization, the definition of problems arising from scheduling and classical algorithms connected to it and the heuristic resolution methods with a detail on greedy, multistart and local search were deepened. This activity allowed us to carry out an in-depth analysis of the variables that can potentially be taken into consideration within the scheduler algorithm. The current algorithm has been installed and used by 2 Sandeza customers.
Why is it important?
The project focused on the realisation of a beta algorithm for the optimisation of production scheduling processes, which is the subject of the OPTI-PMI project (PRISM-E call), natively integrated with Sandeza’s production, quality and logistics process management system. It will enable beneficiary companies to obtain a tool adaptable to different production processes (typical of SMEs operating for companies working as subcontractors), capable of bringing integration and efficiency to the following business processes:
– production processes (cost optimisation)
– commercial (service quality)
– logistics (just-in-time and stock minimisation)
– technical-quality (product quality and process reliability)
– factory (integration and data interchange with machinery, set-up and productivity optimisation)
