B-SURE
Feasibility study whether Block Chain and Data Tempering
Description
The B-SURE study arose from a specific need, in a situation where it was necessary to guarantee immutability, integrity and accessibility of data for legal purposes. In particular, the project use case consists of an infrastructure of Automatic Dispensers for the distribution of Individual Protection Devices developed by the partner Lanzi srl. This infrastructure includes a Client-Server software platform that regulates the operation of the DAs located at Lanzi’s customers and is accessible via specific data transmission interfaces.
The objective of B-SURE is to analyse the feasibility of the use of blockchain technologies to notarise all information and data stored in the Lanzi infrastructure, with the aim to prevent tampering and cyber-attacks. The ambition of the feasibility study is to understand whether blockchain technology can bring advantages in this field, compared to traditional technologies.
Result to be enhanced
The B-SURE study addresses the following questions:
(i) to what extent is it considered feasible to envisage that the rules are shared, accepted and implemented by a variety of actors;
(ii) how is it considered feasible to distribute control activities from a technological, operational and systemic perspective;
(iii) how are costs and revenues expected to be distributed in order to design the investments needed to implement the solution;
(iv) what will be the impacts on business models;
(v) what arrangements are needed for risk mitigation.
Why is it important?
Blockchain technology is particularly interesting for the case study analysed, as it allows secure transactions thanks to its distributed ledger and does not require trusted intermediaries (characterised instead by a centralised ledger), thus validating the transaction itself or allowing it to be known within the legal system, thanks to various forms of promotion.
