AI4IAQ
Artificial Intelligence for Indoor Air Quality
Description
The project fits into the context of Building Automation. It is configured as an innovative control retrofit for HVAC (Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning) systems for optimizing room air quality and rationalizing consumption.
The project involves the installation of multi-sensors for air quality in rooms air-conditioned by HVAC systems. The collected data are processed by an energy intelligence algorithm that calculates the system control parameters needed to achieve optimal room air quality. The outputs of the algorithm are finally transmitted to the systems by means of a control layer that uses the most popular communication protocols in building automation.
Result to be enhanced
The ability to optimize the operation of HVAC systems in real time, depending on the current and expected short-term ambient air quality, allows for both improved user comfort and rationalization of energy consumption for air conditioning of living spaces.
Why is it important?
The project makes it possible to improve the regulation of pre-existing systems and upgrade them to the new air quality requirements, without involving radical and invasive plant modifications. Environments are healthier, especially in buildings with high occupancy or high occupancy variability, promoting the rational and optimal use of energy only when and where it is needed.
