Reuse and valorisation of industrial production waste

 

Description

Ouside In is a project focused on the creation, by Artist Alessandro Ciffo, of design objects and furniture elements made out of recycled silicon resulting from production waste and scraps by the manufacturing company Sargomma SB. Thanks to the participation in the Worth call for tenders, the Austrian studio Mixtura, specialised in the production of pigments of natural origin and/or from industrial processing waste, joined the project in the first half of 2022. The project was developed in accordance with the New European Bauhaus principles of creating sustainable, inclusive and beautiful products

Result to be enhanced

The project led to the production of coloured sheets that were subsequently cut using Sargomma SB’s water-jet technology to produce customisable wall coverings (tiles and magnetic cubes) and a room divider (curtains) made entirely of recycled silicone. The works were exhibited at Dubai Downtown Design Week 2021 and Milan Design Week 2023. The work ‘The Door’, made using magnetic cubes, was one of the 10 finalists for the ROPlastic Prize 2023.
